Orange Shirt Day

National Truth and Reconciliation Day (also known as Orange Shirt Day) takes place each year on September 30th. It is important to note that for many Indigenous Peoples this is a day of mourning and a time to remember the children lost at residential schools across Canada. When we wear our orange shirts we demonstrate support and commitment to honouring the Educational changes in the TRC and to honouring those lost. We also recognize the ongoing discoveries, intergenerational trauma and the children currently being removed from their homes even today. It is important to share about the past but also recognize the current challenges for Indigenous families. We are allies and supporters for building understanding and making change.
